🚨 I went hunting for SILVER deep inside a local market in Ivory Coast, West Africa — but I was warned NOT to go alone. While working in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), I had the opportunity to explore a massive local African market and search for something I try to find everywhere I travel: PHYSICAL SILVER. This wasn't a tourist market. I was accompanied by local security as we navigated crowded streets, narrow alleyways and thousands of shoppers while searching for old African silver coins. And eventually... 🥈 WE FOUND SILVER! I discovered old 20 Franc silver coins, negotiated with local sellers and eventually purchased eight coins for 96,000 West African CFA francs. 🔥 Hunting for silver in Africa 🌍 Exploring a local Ivory Coast market 🥈 Buying African silver coins 💰 Negotiating silver prices in CFA francs 🪙 Vintage 20 Franc coins 🔔 Ping testing silver 👀 Navigating a massive local market 🔥 Precious-metals hunting around the world One of the most interesting parts was how we negotiated. A local went ahead of me to establish the price before the sellers saw me, because we were concerned the asking price might change once they realized a foreign visitor was interested. The lowest price we found was approximately 12,000 CFA per coin, or roughly $19.80 each at the exchange rate I was using at the time. Could I have bought similar coins cheaper online? Probably. But that's not why I did it. These coins became part of the story behind my stack — physical silver I personally hunted down and purchased while traveling through West Africa.
